2FA

Why did I not receive a 2FA message on my PhoneEasy number?

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), also known as Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), is a security process that requires users to provide two different forms of identification to access an account or system, typically combining something they know (like a password) with something they have (such as a phone or hardware token).

While 2FA enhances security by adding an additional layer of protection against unauthorized access, some brands do not send 2FA codes to Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) numbers. This is because VoIP numbers can be more easily acquired and manipulated by cybercriminals compared to traditional mobile numbers, posing a higher risk for potential security breaches. Therefore, to maintain the integrity of their authentication processes, these brands restrict the use of VoIP numbers for 2FA.

Here is a list of brands that don't send 2FA messages to VoIP

Facebook
Google
Instagram
Outlook
Twitter
Venmo
